Atlas — Fleet Routing & Dispatch
Live routing across 2,400 vehicles, with a dispatcher interface built for people making decisions in seconds.
What was actually broken.
Routes were planned the night before and fell apart by mid-morning. Dispatchers spent the day rebuilding plans by phone, and the optimisation software the company had bought was ignored because recalculating took four minutes — an eternity when a driver is waiting.
How we went at it.
Speed was the product requirement. We rebuilt the solver to return a revised plan in under two seconds for a full region, which changed it from a planning tool into a live one. Around it we designed a dispatcher console with the constraints on screen — driver hours, vehicle capability, customer windows — so the human could see instantly why the system proposed what it did and override it with one keystroke when local knowledge said otherwise.

Where it landed.
Dispatchers adopted it within a fortnight, which is not typical for optimisation software. Empty running fell, on-time delivery rose, and the night-before planning shift was retired.
Our dispatchers had rejected two optimisation products before this one. The difference was that this one answers fast enough to argue with.
